With a Commerce degree from the University of Queensland Jim began his career as a chartered accountant in several large accounting firms specialising in tax planning and business consulting. He rose to Partner level in Touche Ross (now Deloitte) before joining Bain & Co (acquired by Deutsche Bank). Jim was appointed State Manager and Associate Director of Deutsche Bank. In 1998 Jim co-founded Kilkenny Rose and Associates which, in 2008, was part of the merger which created SFG.

Jim has substantial experience across a range of specialist areas and regularly presents to clients and other professional advisers and organisations on financial planning issues. He is renowned for his technical expertise in portfolio management, self managed superannuation funds, tax strategy and structures, retirement and succession planning.
 
A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants with the designation of Financial Planning Specialist, Jim is a Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner and specialist adviser member of the Self Managed Superannuation Fund Professionals Association.
 
Married with two daughters, Jim enjoys reading, bushwalking and spending time with his family.
