Mark has a Bachelor of Business from QUT and his employment history includes several years as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG and Ernst and Young. In 1980, he entered the securities profession, joining Bain and Co (part of National Australia Bank). In 1984 he established Mark Barry and Company and in 1988, co-founded Ellwood Barry McPherson, which became a founding member of SFG in 2008.

Mark is a Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner, a Fellow with Financial Services Institute of Australasia and a member of Financial Planning Association of Australia. He has twice been named in the Personal Investor Top 50 MasterClass.
 
Mark’s expertise lies in portfolio management and construction, financial planning strategy and structures, superannuation, retirement and succession planning. He has a history of promoting higher standards of advice through his participation in the Financial Planning Association of Australia’s Brisbane Chapter in its early years.
 
Mark is from Brisbane, and is married with three active children. He enjoys tennis and golf when time permits.
