Message from Terry Dillon – Shadforth CEO.
By Shadforth Financial Group
The start of a new financial year is a great time to pause and reflect on both your current position and progress towards the achievement of your agreed financial goals and objectives. It has been another positive but volatile year for investment markets reinforcing the value of discipline and broad portfolio diversification.
The lead-up to this year’s financial year-end has been a busy time for our advisers and the teams that support them – ensuring our clients’ superannuation strategies and tax positions are optimised at year end. If the new financial year has brought any concerns, new aspirations or changed circumstances for you and your family, please get in contact.
1 July saw the introduction of a number of changes to legislation, most notably to the superannuation landscape. The most significant change is for those with super balances less than $500k who can now ‘bring forward’ their unused concessional super contributions from last financial year. The article on page 3 explains this opportunity in more detail.
There is also the ‘protecting your super package’ which impacts all Australians who have inactive super accounts and aims to prevent retirement savings being eroded by fees and charges. Our advisers have considered these new laws and will continue to update you on how they may affect your circumstances.
On another note, I’m pleased to congratulate two of our advisers Sally Huynh and Phillip Gillard, who were again named in the 2019 Barron’s Top 50 Financial Advisers in Australia. The award recognises the best in the business and is a deserved acknowledgement of Sally and Phil’s dedication to their clients.
Finally, last month I attended a CEO Forum for Wealth Management Leaders in America where we shared our insights and perspectives on delivering great client experiences. It was a fantastic opportunity to share ideas with other like-minded firms and reinforced to me that we are in a privileged position helping you to achieve your goals.
