Private Client Adviser
Ashley is a Private Client Adviser in the Brisbane office for the Shadforth Financial Group.
Education and experience
Ashley holds Commerce and Economics degrees from the University of Queensland, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment from the Securities Institute of Australia. He is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® practitioner, a member of the Financial Planning Association of Australia and a Financial Services Institute of Australasia Fellow.
After graduating from university in 1997, Ashley joined Ellwood Barry McPherson (EBM), a founding member of Shadforth. In 2000, he moved to a chartered accounting firm before returning to EBM in 2003 as a Private Client Adviser and qualifying for the 2004 Personal Investor Top 50 MasterClass. In 2006, Ashley was appointed a Director of EBM. He remains active in developing the Group's investment philosophy and process as an Investment Management Group member.
Ashley's expertise lies in portfolio construction and developing highly effective wealth accumulation and retirement planning strategies for clients.
Outside of work
Away from work, Ashley is a keen sports follower, especially golf and cricket, and an enthusiastic overseas traveller and wine collector.

You bet it does. You see, we have a habit of spending our money in after-tax dollars. So if we are relying on our investments to fund our lifestyle in retirement those investments will need to work harder if our return is being eroded away by excessive amounts of income or capital gains tax along the way.
