Finn Dorney

Private Client Adviser

About Finn

Finn is a Private Client Adviser in the Hobart office for the Shadforth Financial Group.

Education and experience

Finn holds a combined Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Information Systems degree from the University of Tasmania, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning through FINSIA. He also holds the internationally recognised CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® practitioner designation, the highest certification within the financial planning industry, and is a member of the Hobart Chapter of the Financial Planning Association.

In 2017, Finn was recognised in The Australian’s Top 50 Financial Advisers in Australia, in association with Barron’s. He has been employed by Shadforth Financial Group since 2004 and has gained broad experience within the financial advice industry. Finn is passionate about developing and maintaining long term relationships with his clients and enjoys helping people achieve their personal financial goals. He specialises in strategic financial planning with extensive knowledge in superannuation, wealth accumulation, retirement strategies, taxation planning and portfolio management.

Finn's approach is to gain a strong understanding of his client's cash flow position, which then allows him to recommend the most suitable investments to help them achieve their financial goals. Finn enjoys providing answers to important questions like 'Can I retire now?', 'Can I afford to send my children to private school?' and 'Can I sustain and protect my current lifestyle?'

Outside of work

Away from work, Finn enjoys spending time with his family and friends, is a keen cyclist and likes to make the most of Tasmania's great outdoors. He lives in Hobart with his wife and two young children.

Finn provided us with an extremely clear, informative and strategic presentation. His advice allowed us to readily grasp the concepts involved. We appreciate his advice and consider ourselves fortunate that we have his guidance and counsel to assist us in our life transitional decisions. We look forward to continuing our association well into the future.
