About Brad

Brad is a Private Wealth Adviser in the Perth office for the Shadforth Financial Group.

Education and experience

Brad holds a Bachelor of Business degree (Management) from Edith Cowan University and a Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning. Before joining Shadforth Financial Group in 2001, Brad was known to many people as a professional Australian Football League (AFL) player for Fremantle Football Club and the Western Bulldogs where he played a combined total of 96 games. He also played 122 games for Claremont in the WAFL and represented Western Australia on three occasions.

During his 17 year tenure at Shadforth and continuing the sporting theme, albeit from a different perspective, Brad has formed a considerable niche within the AFL through his role as the joint servicing adviser to the AFLPA and AFL Industry Superannuation Fund and his role running the AFL Players Association Financial (AFLPA) Education Program.

In July 2017, Brad was instrumental in pioneering the establishment of the Rugby League Players Association (RLPA) Financial Education Program across the 16 NRL clubs. From an AFL Coaches Association (AFLCA) perspective Brad is also the joint servicing adviser that insures all 180 Senior, Assistant and Development coaches across the entire AFL competition.

Brad’s forte of providing financial solutions to professional sportspeople ensures his clients enter, enjoy and leave the professional sporting environment with the financial education, skills and knowledge necessary to continue their lives post in a better financial position than when they entered it. Brad also specialises in the provision of financial advice to high net worth clients on how to protect and enhance their financial lives whilst in the last two years Brad has entered into the not-for-profit sector providing investment advice to a number of charitable trusts.

Professionally, Brad recently completed a four year stint as a board member of Kidsafe WA, a non-government, not-for-profit, charitable organisation dedicated to the prevention of unintentional childhood injuries. Brad also currently sits on the AFL Players' Alumni Advisory Board. The AFL Players' Alumni Associations offers a range of benefits to their members related to health and wellbeing, financial prosperity, continuing education and social connections.

Brad was recognised in the Australian's Top 50 Financial Advisers in Australia, in association with Barron's in 2018.

Outside of work

Away from work, Brad is married with a young family and is still heavily involved in the football environment. For the past six years he has assisted in coaching the first XVIII at Hale School, one of Western Australia’s oldest independent private schools.  Brad also completed a five year coaching involvement, two as Senior Coach, of the Western Australian National State 18’s, an elite junior football environment preparing the state’s most talented junior players for the rigours of AFL. He was also Chairman of Selectors for the Western Australian Football League (WAFL) senior side in 2012 and assistant coach in 2013 and over the last 10 AFL seasons, Brad has joined the commentary team on ABC radio and Channel 7 television.
